Pre-application questions 

To apply for relocating nbn® assets

Answer up to six questions so we can guide you to the right application form. These questions will cover:

  • If you need work done inside or outside your property boundary.
  • If you need a new connection for a property that is being internally subdivided and there is a pre-existing nbn connection.

Once you apply and pay the non-refundable application fee, we will complete a full assessment of your works. 

To complete the required pre-application questions, you will need to know which nbn connection type is available at your home or business. You can check your address before starting the questions.

Reporting an issue with nbn equipment

We’re committed to helping you have a positive experience with nbn. We can help with issues like damage to nbn equipment, installation, conduct or workmanship problems.

If your issue isn’t something nbn can help with, we’ll make sure you’re directed to the right people to speak to.

Missing nbn equipment

If your nbn-supplied equipment is missing, please reach out to your service provider and let them know. They will help organise for new nbn equipment to be installed if required.

Removing or relocating nbn Satellite equipment

You can apply to remove or relocate nbn Satellite equipment.

Remove nbn Fixed Line equipment

The nbn equipment for nbn Fixed Line can include an nbn utility box (external), nbn connection box (internal) and related cabling. You can apply to remove nbn Fixed Line equipment.

Relocate other nbn equipment

Relocation of nbn equipment in common property needs to be done by nbn. In many cases, Enterprise Ethernet equipment also needs to be relocated by nbn.

You can apply with us for requests like:

  • Moving the FTTB cabinet in multi-dwelling buildings
  • Moving cables for the Main Distribution Frame (MDF)
  • Moving nbn‑supplied Enterprise Ethernet equipment (B‑NTD) to a wall‑mounted or rack‑mounted installation.

Remove nbn Fixed Wireless equipment

The nbn equipment for nbn Fixed Wireless includes an outdoor antenna and nbn connection box. You can apply to remove nbn Fixed Wireless equipment. 

Please keep in mind that there may be fees involved which will be confirmed once you apply. This can include a non-refundable application fee ranging from $550 to $2750 inc. GST.

In some cases, nbn assets are in spaces shared with another provider, such as nbn cables in a Telstra pit.

If another provider has told you that your project may affect nbn assets, you can apply with us to have those assets removed or moved.

We cannot remove or relocate assets that are not owned by nbn.

Additional connection for new developments

Additional connection for internal subdivision of property

You can apply for a new nbn connection for internal subdivisions of properties. This applies for properties that have already been built and have an existing nbn connection.

If you are requesting an nbn connection for a newly created address due to an internal subdivision, you will need to provide proof of council-address recognition with your application.

Keep in mind that there are fees involved, which can include a non-refundable application fee ranging from $550 up to $2,750 (inc. GST).
