Every relocation works request is different and is assessed on a case‑by‑case basis. We take the time to understand your needs, arrange your quote and coordinate the work from start to finish.
From start to finish, relocation works can take over 50 days, depending on how complex the work is. Check out our step-by-step guide to help you plan ahead and avoid project delays.
Answer our pre-application questions, which will let you know if you don’t need to submit a relocation works application. If you don’t, we’ll help point you to other options or contacts.
Provide us with details about what you need relocated to help us assess your request. These include:
- Photos of the nbn® assets you need relocated or removed
- Site plans or sketches showing the proposed new location
- Any relevant Before You Dig Australia (BYDA) plans
- Any relevant accredited plant locator plans
- Supporting documents from other carriers (if shared infrastructure is involved)
- Any additional information that helps explain the works required

After reviewing your application, we will email you to confirm if we can help with your relocation request. We will also outline the next steps.
If we can’t help, we’ll do our best to point you in the right direction.
We will send you a non-refundable fee ranging from $550 to $2,750 (inc. GST) and the Terms and Conditions.
The fee covers the costs for us to further assess your request. This can include things like:
- Reviewing how your requested changes will work with the existing nbn network.
- Determining the most suitable relocation method.
- Preparing a detailed Scope of Work by our approved contractor.
This fee will be deducted from your quote in the nbn Offer later.
Once the non-refundable fee has been paid, we can start preparing your nbn offer.
No fees apply for the removal of nbn Fixed Line assets in a single-dwelling residential demolition.
We will scope the work and prepare your nbn Offer. This usually takes up to four weeks but may take longer depending on how complex the work is.
We will let you know if our assessment takes longer.

More complex requests may need additional design or other assessments before we can confirm requirements and proceed. This can include projects involving council works, road authorities, infrastructure upgrades or major construction.
We’ll send you an nbn Offer to review and accept.
This includes:
- Terms and Conditions
- Quote covering the cost for the relocation works
- Detailed Scope of Works
The quote has the application fee deducted. It covers the construction and to update our system once complete.
Once we receive full payment of the quote, we’ll begin the work.
Our approved nbn contractors will be in touch to schedule the upcoming work. If access to your property is required, someone over the age of 18 will need to be present.
Works generally take 50 business days or more to complete. However, timeframes can be much longer for more complex requests.
If the scope changes or new site information becomes available that affects the requirements, we’ll let you know if the cost needs to be updated.
