Severe weather affecting New South Wales
11 July at 1.38pm AEST
- The severe weather that impacted New South Wales over the last week continues to ease and floodwaters are receding. Favourable conditions over the weekend allowed field crews to complete significant restoration activities.
- Most of the impacts to nbn connections that were caused by power outages and network infrastructure damage in impacted areas have been resolved, with over 40,000 homes and businesses now reconnected to the nbn® network.
- For some sites that are still without commercial power, we will continue to manage portable generators which have already been deployed.
- In the event of any further local power outages or if network damage and service faults are identified, we have field technicians out and about to access and restore services as quickly and safely as possible.
- We encourage anyone having connection issues to check the status of your service on our Network Outages page.
- If there is no outage displayed and you are still without service, please contact your phone and internet service provider. Your provider will raise a case allowing us to identify the cause and work to restore your service.
- This will be the last update for this issue.

- As conditions continue to improve in areas of New South Wales impacted by recent severe weather, the nbn® network is now operational across most of the state.
- Some users within affected areas such as Sydney Metro, Illawarra and Shoalhaven may continue to have difficulties connecting to the network due to local power outages or network infrastructure damage.
- We are monitoring the weather and have field technicians out and about to access and restore services as quickly and as safely as possible.
- Please remember, any equipment connected via the nbn network will not work during a power outage.
- We are working with emergency services and power companies to reconnect homes and businesses to the nbn network and expect the number of restored services to continue to grow.
- We have deployed generators where it is safe to do so and have more on standby to use if needed.
- Where possible, we encourage you to check the status of your service on our network outages page.
- If there is no outage displayed and you are still without service, please contact your phone and internet provider for specific information on the impact to your service.

- The impact of severe weather in New South Wales continues to affect some nbn® services across Sydney Metro, Illawarra, Shoalhaven and Hunter.
- While some network infrastructure has been damaged by floodwater, most of the impacts have been caused by power outages and we are working hard to restore services as quickly and safely as possible.
- As a result of power network restorations, and repair works where nbn has been able to obtain road access, the number of restored services continues to grow in areas such as Pitt Town, Ebenezer, Yarramundi, Agnes Banks, Greenfield Park and Kensington.
- As weather conditions ease, we will continue to work with emergency services and power companies to reconnect homes and businesses to the nbn network however limited access to some sites may result in delays to service restoration.
- Equipment connected via the nbn broadband access network will not work during a power outage.
- We have deployed generators where it is safe to do so and have more on standby ready to use when needed.
- Where possible, people in affected areas are encouraged to check the nbn outages page and with their phone and internet provider for specific information.
- We will continue to provide regular updates as we get more information. Please follow the nbn Twitter account @NBN_Australia (you do not need a Twitter account to view these updates).

- We have deployed generators where it is safe to do so and have more on standby ready to use when needed.
