Dubbo next in line to receive better broadband

A further 11,000 homes and businesses across New South Wales have been added to the National Broadband Network (NBN) rollout footprint.

The latest update to the interactive rollout map on the NBN Co website shows that pre-construction activities are underway for 9,900 premises in the fixed-line footprint, including newly-added communities such as Dubbo in the Central West region.

A further 1,100 premises located outside metropolitan areas are set to benefit from the NBN fixed-wireless service. In these areas contract instructions for construction activity have been issued.

In addition, physical construction is now underway for 18,100 premises in fixed-line areas.

On average it takes around 12 months from the start of construction until residents and business owners can receive NBN services from phone and internet providers.

The NBN’s fixed-line and fixed wireless services already pass more than 157,400 premises in New South Wales. There are more than 66,800 residents and business owners already connected to the network across all technologies in New South Wales.**

3. In fixed wireless areas copper phone lines will remain in place to provide a landline telephone service. Before the network equipment is installed for a fixed wireless service, a validation test will be carried out.
