nbn™ network available to three million homes and businesses

17 August 2016

nbn™ – the company building Australia’s Broadband Network – has announced its network footprint has expanded to three million premises now able to order an nbn™ service.

Chief Network Engineering Officer, Peter Ryan said: “This milestone is testament to the sheer volume and pace of work that our team and partners have achieved.

“We are making outstanding progress towards our goal: connecting eight million homes and businesses to enable access to fast broadband by 2020. Some of the areas we’ve been working in recently to get to this point are Campbelltown (NSW), Redcliffe (QLD) and Torquay (VIC).

“We know that access to fast broadband is helping transform communities, allowing people to access tele-health services, giving people the chance to connect and providing rural, regional and remote schools with the ability to access troves of information for classwork.

“Today more than one in four homes are able to connect to the nbn™ network. By this time next year, that number will be around one in two – meaning half of Australia will be able to order an nbn service. We are well on our way to connecting eight million homes and businesses by 2020,” Mr Ryan said.
