Millions more Aussies ready for 18x faster nbn

• Three million homes and businesses can now get fibre connected all the way to their premises as part of nbn’s fibre upgrade program.
• The continued rollout means millions more Australians now have the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of nbn’s fastest and most reliable residential broadband.
• An additional 400,000 Australian homes and businesses have been announced as part of the program and are on target to become eligible for full fibre by 2025, with new suburbs added across the country.^#
• Full fibre allows people to access nbn’s fastest residential plan which is up to 18x faster than the average home broadband connection^##, making it perfect for large households, gamers and working from home.^##

Three million more Australian homes and businesses can now upgrade from copper-based connections to full fibre and enjoy the benefits of our fastest residential plan to improve streaming, gaming and working from home.

The milestone coincided with the announcement of an additional 400,000 homes and businesses now added to the program to deliver full fibre to more Australians.

By the end of 2025, more than 10 million Australian premises will be able to order our fastest residential plan.

“Full fibre provides a fast, reliable, and consistent online experience, even at the busiest times of the day.^### Most importantly, it’s designed for a future where giant leaps in technology and homes with multiple devices are the norm.

“The average Australian home now has more than 21 connected devices – despite that surge in data, two out of three Australians connected to nbn haven’t changed their plans within the last three years.

“We are using more connected devices, technology has advanced, our data use just keeps going up – has your plan kept up with what you now need? 

“Full fibre is our most reliable connection – perfect for gamers, virtual reality, big families, cloud storage, YouTube uploaders, and 360 video and more.

“It’s also our most responsive technology for making video calls, uploading photos, videos, big files or streaming box sets and gaming online all at the same time – with less stuttering, buffering or dropouts.

“Fibre allows our fastest residential plan which allows you to download a Call of Duty (130GB) game update in under 30 minutes – it can take seven hours on a standard residential plan.^##

“Our fastest residential plan can also save you plenty of time if you are working from home.

“A 200MB file can download 10 times more quickly compared to a standard residential plan (four seconds compared to 42 seconds), while uploading can be twice as fast (42 seconds compared to 102 seconds) – that means less waiting and less stress.

“An extra 57,248 kilometres of fibre was rolled out across the country this year as part of nbn’s fibre upgrades currently underway – that’s enough fibre to span from Sydney to New York and back almost twice.

“We encourage customers to check with their internet provider to see if their plan has enough speed and data inclusions.”
