High speed fibre internet connectivity comes to Jabiru
Wednesday 14 December, 2022 - Jabiru, the tourism gateway to the Kakadu National Park in the Northern Territory, now has access to nbn high speed fibre internet connectivity.
In collaboration with the Northern Territory Government, nbn has been working since 2021 to install fibre to up to 540 premises and 1100 residents and town enterprises.
The $4.5 million, Northern Territory Government-funded project will deliver reliability and speed comparable to any of Australia’s capital cities, regional centres and towns.
nbn Local General Manager Chris Cusack said the completion of the project would economically support Jabiru’s growth in helping improve digital capability in the health, business, education and importantly tourism sectors.
“The high-speed broadband we enable supports the way we work, learn, access health and other services and the way we connect with family and friends,” he said.
“Our purpose is to help lift the digital capability of Australia by connecting homes and businesses across Australia and providing access to the positive social and economic benefits enabled by access to a secure digital backbone.
“I’m proud to announce the completion and delivery of the project – local businesses and residents are already realising the benefits high speed broadband can deliver.”
Following completion of the project businesses and residents can order a service through a Retail Service Provider (RSP) of their choice.
A list of available internet providers can be found at the nbn website: nbnco.com.au/residential/service-providers
“Our team will continue to engage with local business, the community and key stakeholders in the region to ensure they maximise the benefits of the network,” Mr Cusack said.
“This marks an exciting new chapter for one of Australia’s most beautiful regions.”
