Doug Campbell retires from NBN

07 December 2010

After more than 50 years of service in the telecommunications industry in Australia and Canada, Doug Campbell has advised that he will be leaving the NBN team for personal reasons and retiring at the end of the year.

Doug will be leaving his roles as the Executive Chairman of NBN Tasmania, a fully-owned subsidiary of NBN Co, and his position on the board of NBN Co.

Chairman of NBN Co, Harrison Young said: "Doug Campbell has had a long and distinguished career in the telecommunications industry including senior roles in Telstra as Group Managing Director of Networks and Technology and worked in the early years of Telstra's Wholesale and International business.

Mr Campbell was appointed to his role with NBN Tasmania in July 2009, and the NBN Co Board the following August.

Mr Campbell leaves following the successful completion of works on the first stage of the NBN in Tasmania, which saw the rollout of the network to three communities on time and under budget.

"The board, management and staff at NBN Co acknowledge the contribution Doug has made to our progress, and wish he and wife Joy all the best for the future," Mr Young said.
