This is more than an internship
At nbn, you won’t just shadow from the sidelines, you’ll contribute from day one. You’ll build your practical skills while learning alongside technical experts, leaders and mentors. Our program is designed to help you turn what you’ve learned at uni into real world impact, while building the confidence, experience and connections that shape what comes next.
What you’ll get:
- Paid experience
- Real work from day one
- Support that helps you grow (leader, mentors and grad buddy)
- A genuine pathway forward (potential pathways to our graduate program)
What the experience feels like
Our internship is designed to help you settle in, build your skills, and step into real responsibility over time. You’ll get to know your team, understand how nbn works and then start applying your knowledge in practical ways, whether that’s contributing to a live project, working with data or helping solve real challenges alongside your team.
Past interns consistently describe the experience as supportive, empowering and career-shaping. One intern said they felt “supported, trusted and encouraged” and gained a much clearer understanding of what it means to contribute to real work in a large organisation. Another described the internship as the “highlight of their degree,” sharing that they were given opportunities to step up and present to larger audiences with support from their team.
Don’t just learn about the work, come do it.
How the internship is structured
We’ve designed the internship to help you grow quickly while still feeling supported. You won’t be thrown in the deep end but you also won’t be stuck watching from the sidelines.
Here’s what that looks like:
- Start strong - Get set up, meet your team and understand what you’ll be working on.
- Get into the work - Jump into your project, start collaborating and build your confidence.
- Build momentum - Apply what you’ve learned, take on more responsibility and start solving real problems.
- Finish with impact - Present your work and reflect on what you’ve achieved.
