New wholesale pricing improving speeds
NBN Co today welcomed the results from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission’s first broadband speed testing report.
The report revealed between 80 to almost 92 per cent (depending on the internet provider) of the maximum download speeds of retail plans over the nbn™ fixed line access network are being delivered to consumers during evening busy hours.
NBN Co said the results reflected the positive impact of its work with internet providers, including the recent wholesale pricing promotion, which has seen bandwidth congestion on the fixed line network fall from an average four hours per week last year to 12 minutes per week in February.
NBN Co will continue to prioritise the experience of people who have connected to the nbn access network and ensure continued improvement is demonstrated through our monthly progress report.
The rollout of the nbn™ access network is now more than halfway built with around one in three Australian homes and businesses already connected. NBN Co remains on track to complete the rollout of the network and connect eight million homes and businesses by the end of 2020.
