NBN Co welcomes Telstra submission of Structural Separation with ACCC

01 August 2011

NBN Co, the company rolling out Australia's National Broadband Network, today welcomed the submission to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) by Telstra of its Structural Separation Undertaking (SSU) and Draft Migration Plan.

NBN Co Head of Corporate Services Kevin Brown said:

“The submission of these documents is a welcome step towards finalising a key condition precedent of the Definitive Agreements between Telstra and NBN Co, and in turn the participation of Australia's largest telecommunications provider in the National Broadband Network.

“Telstra's commitment to shut its copper network, to separate its wholesale business from its retail business and to support the National Broadband Network all help to improve the business case for Australia's biggest infrastructure project.

“They will also enable a cheaper, more-efficient rollout of the NBN which will mean Australians will begin gaining access to the NBN sooner and hasten the delivery of faster broadband to all Australians.”
