Shirley In’t Veld appointed to nbn™ Board

The Board of NBN Co Limited (nbn) today welcomed the announcement by the Government of the appointment of Shirley In’t Veld as a non-executive director, commencing 2 December 2015. Ms In’t Veld fills the vacancy created by Alison Lansley’s departure on 6 December 2015.

Chairman, Dr Ziggy Switkowski, welcomed Ms In’t Veld, saying “Shirley brings a wealth of experience from more than 15 years in senior positions including infrastructure and industrial companies. We look forward to Shirley joining the nbn board, adding her expertise and contributing fresh insights in this marvellously dynamic enterprise.”

Ms In’t Veld’s experience includes Board appointments at Asciano Limited, CSIRO, Duet Company Limited and Perth Airport Pty Ltd. Shirley was the Managing Director of Verve Energy, Western Australia’s biggest electricity generator from 2007 to 2012. Prior to this Shirley held a number of senior legal, commercial and marketing positions with Alcoa, WMC Resources Ltd, Bond Corporation and BankWest. She has a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne

Dr Switkowski acknowledged the contribution of outgoing Board member, Ms Alison Lansley, saying: “Alison played an important role in the evolution of nbn over the past three years and leaves the business pointed in the right direction and with good momentum. We thank her for her contribution and wish her well.”
