Experiencing an unplanned outage?
Some HFC nbn connection boxes in homes and businesses may be impacted by a temporary issue that can cause a loss of service.
As a first step, try restarting your nbn connection box by following these steps:
- Switch off the power to the box.
- Unplug the power cord.
- Wait at least one minute.
- Reconnect the power cord and switch the power to the box back on.
If you are still experiencing issues, please contact your internet service provider.
Received a planned outage HFC Upgrade letter / notice?
We’re upgrading the new HFC network to help deliver a more reliable experience and uplift capacity for the future. While we carry out this work, there may be short periods where your service is interrupted. We know how important it is to stay connected, and we’re working hard to complete these upgrades as quickly as possible.
Important note:
- For the purpose of this page, a planned outage is where nbn provides a phone and internet provider with more than 15 minutes notice that an outage will occur. This is separate to the Wholesale Broadband Agreement that we have with providers.
- For the most accurate outage information, please type your full Address in the search function. Please note when searching by “Suburb” results may not be accurate for some nbn services.
Things to keep in mind
nbn is a wholesaler – we provide the portion of the network that connects your home or business to your service provider’s network.
Please be aware that this tool does not cover premises connected via business nbn Satellite Service or Enterprise Ethernet, and may not reflect all outages for the nbn Sky Muster Plus satellite service. If you are connected to the nbn access network via one of these services and you are experiencing issues, please contact your service provider.
^ Your experience, including the speeds actually achieved over the nbn network, depends on the nbn access technology and configuration over which services are delivered to your premises, whether you are using the internet during the busy period, and some factors outside of nbn’s control (like your equipment quality, software, chosen broadband plan or how your provider designs its network). For nbn Satellite, end customers may also experience latency.
