Case study: ADW Johnson and TasmaNet Tasmania and TasmaNet

How business nbn™ Enterprise Ethernet^ is supporting collaboration on large files between teams* in a multi-site workplace.

ADW Johnson has a team of 100+ work across NSW in Sydney, Central Coast and Newcastle. Some of their projects include planning and building rehabilitation centres, community football precincts, retail distribution centres, and retirement villages. These projects require concurrent collaboration on large project files which can often be a challenge.

Challenges with digital capability and collaboration

Poor or unreliable upload and download speeds can dramatically affect, or even restrict, the ability to send and receive large mission critical files, while downloading and working on local files can also lead to version and quality control issues.

The business nbn™ solution

ADW Johnson explored a solution based on business nbn™ Enterprise Ethernet with the support of its retail service provider, TasmaNet. The goal was to find a connectivity solution fit for purpose that could provide options for faster speeds and a more consistent broadband experience.

The new solution is based on a wholesale Committed Information Rate, which means the sites now have wholesale data across the nbn™ network that is not impacted by other best efforts internet traffic. Greater network stability and consistency in upload and download speeds were two features available through the business nbn™ Enterprise Ethernet solution that helped them reach their goal.

Today, due to the connectivity of business nbn™ Enterprise Ethernet, ADW Johnson sees upwards of 80 employees connected concurrently via remote Virtual Private Network to centralised servers and files, making collaboration much simpler and more efficient.

This helps ADW Johnson deliver its projects on time and with the confidence they need to make commitments to clients as they continue to grow into the future.

* nbn is very happy with ADW Johnson’s experience with the nbn™ broadband access network. Of course, end customer experiences may vary. Of course, end customer experiences may vary. An end customer’s experience, including the speeds actually achieved over the nbn™ broadband access network, depends on the nbn™ access network technology and configuration over which services are delivered to their premises, whether they are using the internet during the busy period, and some factors outside of nbn’s control (like their equipment quality, software, chosen broadband plan, signal reception, or how their provider designs its network).

^ business nbn™ Enterprise Ethernet upgrade option is only available on the nbn™ fixed line network and for limited premises in the nbn™ fixed wireless and satellite footprints.
