Darren Mills is Executive General Manager, Operate and Maintain Network at NBN Co.
The Operate & Maintain team is responsible for providing ongoing availability, operation and security of the nbn™ network.
Darren has worked in the telecommunications industry for more than 30 years beginning with highly specialised roles within the Australian Army and Australian Defence Industries, before spending nearly 14 years with Optus in a number of roles including General Manager Mobile Operations and General Manager Consumer Operations.
In 2008, Darren moved to Telstra working at the Global Operations Centre as General Manager Bigpond, Content and Media, which among other technologies, provided oversight and network management of the Telstra DSL access networks and HFC networks.
Since joining nbn in 2010, Darren has filled several leadership roles.
He believes the application of the nbn Business Process Excellence disciplines, effective leadership at all levels of the organisation and an improved employee engagement outcome are some of the keys to nbn’s continued success.
Darren is as passionate about nbn and its future success as he was the day he joined.
In his spare time, Darren enjoys tinkering with US muscle cars, sports of all kinds and spending time with his family at their home in the semi-rural suburb of Plenty, north east of Melbourne.
