This information is appropriate for developers and their design and build representatives of a new property development that require Lead-in Conduits (LICs) to connect to the nbn™ network.
Lead-in Conduits is one of the ways the nbn™ network can be delivered to your development. Developments that require LICs usually have 3 or less premises or all the premises facing an existing road and there is no requirement for pit and pipe works or pathway works. The nbn™ network boundary and the premises are directly connected via a LIC from the street without having any additional pits built. No private or public roads can be built as part of the development.
You should review the information below before you commence any work to ensure that the designs and builds are done according to nbn standards to avoid remediation and delays.
nbn will assess your eligibility to receive the nbn™ network using the details submitted by the pre-qualification online tool. Qualified applications are sent a confirmation email that specify which sites require nbn™ infrastructure and costs. If you are unsure if your development should follow the LIC building process, contact nbn and quote your stage application reference.
A new request will need to be submitted if there are amends to the number of sites to be constructed.
The developer or their representative is responsible for excavating the trenches and building the LIC needed to connect to the nbn™ network according to nbn™ network standards.
You will need to:
It's nbn's responsibility to install the nbn™ network.
nbn will install a local network cable located in the street in front of your development with the aim to meet the estimated premises occupation date as provided by you. Once complete, nbn will send you a notice that the site is in service.
The local network cable can be connected to the building entry point of the premises via the lead-in conduit you’ve built within your development.
All premises must be connected to the nbn™ network through a service provider by the resident.
In-home cabling for the nbn™ network for your nominated technology must be done by registered cablers using nbn standards and guidelines.
nbn has prepared marketing resources to assist you with the promotion of your nbn™ network ready property.
