The new nbn™ Sky Muster™ satellite service is here. Designed to deliver a revolution in satellite broadband, the Sky Muster™ service is intended to be a game changer for the way you work, learn and live in regional and remote Australia.
The nbn™ Sky Muster™ satellite service is dedicated to providing broadband connectivity to regional and remote Australia, so you can now enjoy quick access to health, education and business services as well as all the ways you love to stay connected with friends and family.
The Sky Muster™ service will cover mainland Australia and Tasmania, and remote islands such as Norfolk Island, Christmas Island, Lord Howe Island and Cocos (Keeling) Islands.
The wholesale speed options that will be available to internet service providers via the new satellite service are 12Mbps download with a 1Mbps upload, or 25Mbps download with a 5Mbps upload. The 25Mbps (wholesale) download option is designed to revolutionise fast broadband for regional and remote Australia.*
The Interim Satellite Service (ISS) will be shut down on 28th February 2017. To ensure a smooth transition to the new Sky Muster™ service, nbn is working closely with phone and internet service providers to help their customers migrate across to this new service. Some ISS users will be migrated across to the nbn™ Fixed Wireless technology if they are located within an nbn™ Fixed Wireless coverage area.
To ensure all ISS users are on board by the end of February we’ve developed a pre-installation & migration process with our approved nbn™ Delivery Partners. This will include pre-installation of Sky Muster™ equipment at ISS users’ premises so that all these premises are nbn™ ready.
Our Delivery Partners will be in contact with existing ISS users to arrange for the new Sky Muster™ equipment to be installed. This will help ensure you have the ability to have continuous access to broadband services.
If you have any questions about the migration, the Sky Muster™ service, or the equipment installation process, please call the nbn™ Contact Centre on 1800 687 626.
To connect to the Sky Muster™ service, check your address to see if the nbn™ network is available in your area, and contact your preferred service provider to choose a plan that suits your needs.
nbn™ has ceased accepting registrations for our interim ISS and NSS services. For more information, contact your preferred service provider.
*Your experience including the speeds actually achieved over the nbn™ network depends on the technology over which services are delivered to your premises and some factors outside our control like your equipment quality, software, broadband plans and how your service provider designs its network.
