The nbn™ Ethernet Bitstream Service supplied by the nbn™ Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) technology has been designed to support the delivery of quality voice services, and to support many key features of existing voice services using our Traffic Class 1 (TC-1) product.
How voice services work on FTTP
nbn™ FTTP product components have been designed with flexibility in mind. You decide how to package and provide your voice services, knowing that the right components are in place to give you network support in line with the commitments made to nbn’s customers in the Wholesale Broadband Agreement 3 (WBA3).
nbn will install a Network Termination Device (NTD) in your customers’ premises. If the premises is located in the FTTP footprint, the NTD will have two different types of interface ports:
User Network Interface-Data (UNI-D)
User Network Interface-Voice (UNI-V)
The NTD contains four UNI-D ports and two UNI-V ports. You can deploy voice services over either the UNI-D or UNI-V ports.
nbn pricing and product is designed to allow you to develop retail voice services comparable to legacy voice products in the market today.
