The nbn is heading to the Atherton Tablelands to provide the local community with the information they need to take advantage of fixed wireless superfast broadband and ask any questions about the proposed fixed line network.

The nbn already has 24 fixed wireless facilities delivering nbn™ services to more than 4,600 homes and businesses across the Tablelands, Mareeba and Cairns local government areas, with another 10 facilities approved and awaiting completion.

Along with fixed wireless, the nbn™ is using a mix of technologies, including fixed line and satellite to deliver high speed broadband to Australians. Under the minimum speeds that all technologies on the nbn™ network is designed to provide, Queensland families can all be online at the same time, enjoying the same fast broadband connection, using multiple devices.1

A Community Information Session for local residents and businesses interested in finding out more about the nbn™ Fixed Wireless and Fixed Line Networks and its benefits will be on Thursday 4 February 2016.

Community Information Session:

When: 3pm – 6pm, Thursday 4 February 2016

Where: Yungaburra Community Hall, Cedar Street Yungaburra

There is no need to make an appointment, please drop in at any time.

nbn™ Corporate Affairs Manager for Queensland, Kylie Lindsay urged residents to attend the Fixed Wireless Network Community Information Session to find out about the huge impact access to superfast broadband will have to the local region.

“Residents are invited to attend this information session to arm themselves with information and learn about how to maximise the opportunities presented by the nbn™.

“This is an opportunity to ask questions about not only the fixed wireless network, but about the nbn™ in general.

“The nbn™ network will become critical for health, education, business development and the overall long-term sustainable growth of the Atherton Tablelands.

“It will provide real business and community opportunities, such as working from home, video conferencing, video and music streaming, tele-health and e-health and entertainment on demand.”

  1. Your experience including the speeds actually achieved over the nbnTM network depends on the technology over which services are delivered to your premises and some factors outside our control like your equipment quality, software, broadband plans and how your service provider designs its network.
