National Broadband Network Appointments

NBN Co, the company established to deliver the National Broadband Network, today announced the appointments of Mike Kaiser as Principal - Government Relations and External Affairs and Claire Rawlins as Chief Information Officer.

Mr Kaiser, an electrical engineering and economics graduate, has worked as Chief of Staff to two Premiers and consulted to private sector clients, particularly around major infrastructure issues and projects.

He is currently the Chief of Staff to the Queensland Premier and will commence work with NBN Co on the 1st December.

Mr Kaiser's background will ensure NBN Co effectively engages with the states and other external stakeholders, including the Federal and Local Governments as well as local communities.

NBN Co Executive Chairman Mike Quigley said: "A key early focus for Mr Kaiser will be identifying opportunities for various utility operators across Australia to participate with NBN Co in the roll out of our network."

"Mr Kaiser's understanding of these operations, their infrastructure and their service delivery approaches makes him a valuable addition to the NBN team," Mr Quigley said

Ms Rawlins brings 25 years experience in the IT industry in various senior roles. She is currently a consultant to AAPT. Most recently she was Managing Director, Group Technology for BT Design, a division of British Telecom. In this role she had responsibility for designing, building and implementing the IT and businessprocesses, systems and technology. She will be responsible for IT strategy, architecture, delivery and support of NBN's extensive IT systems and applications.Prior to joining British Telecom in 2004, Ms Rawlins held senior IT positions with Fidelity Investments, Qwest, Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein (DrKW). Ms Rawlins has extensive experience in managing large, complex information technology projects.

"Both Mr Kaiser and Ms Rawlins bring a depth of functional experience to NBN Co as the company continues to design and build a very large and very complex engineering project," Mr Quigley said.
