Tailored Construction Group

The nbn® broadband access network gave the Tailored Construction Group the ability to communicate in real-time, making them more productive and helping them to grow their business.

Tailored Construction Group was started by the Hayes family – a father and his two sons with a love of building. Now 17 strong, there’s a good mix of staff both onsite and offsite. Specialising in alterations, additions and custom homes, Darrell Hayes# (General Manager) explains that from the outset, the family wanted to grow their business. Their service over nbn access network has helped them greatly to achieve this goal along the way.

The business has been able to embrace new technologies, including a web-based portal where every stage of each job is logged. This cloud-based software has improved communication, allowing clients to check-in from anywhere and provide feedback, and giving staff the ability to communicate in real-time.

Most importantly, this new software has enabled the team to interact more efficiently, greatly increasing productivity.* With more projects on the go, Darrell says the growth of the business has been inevitable, “We find that we’re not double handling as much as we used to. This makes us a much more productive business”.

If we weren’t connected to the nbn access network we wouldn’t be able to do the amount of work that we do.

Some tips for companies with employees both onsite and offsite.

Multiple phone lines

Medium sized businesses with a number of employees like the Tailored Construction Group should talk to their service provider about a bundle option with multiple phone lines.

Communication and data options

Every business has different communication and data needs. The ability to stay in touch online and in real time is a game changer for businesses where they have a mix of staff onsite and offsite – especially when relying on applications and storage solutions that utilise the cloud.

Choosing the right plan

Medium sized businesses that deal with large files and high bandwidth applications on a regular basis, especially via the cloud, should speak to their provider about a plan based on business grade symmetrical upload and download wholesale speeds.*

Prepare your business for the switch

Is your business ready for the nbn™ access network? To help prepare you for the switch, use our handy checklist to tick off important items, determine which services and equipment may be affected, and find out what you need to do next.

These are genuine experiences of an nbn network user, who has been reimbursed with a nominal fee for his time.

We’re designing the nbn™ broadband access network to provide these speeds to our wholesale customers and service providers. Your experience, including the speeds actually achieved over the nbn™ network, depends on the nbn™ access network technology and configuration over which services are delivered to your premises, whether you are using the internet during the busy period, and some factors outside our control (like your equipment quality, software, broadband plans, signal reception and how your service provider designs its network). Speeds may be impacted by network congestion on nbn’s Fixed Wireless network, including during busy periods. Satellite users may experience latency. nbn™ wholesale speed tiers available to your provider vary depending on the access technology in your area.
