Preparing for the NBN
The "Preparing for the NBN" booklet is now available to download from our website. This end-user guide is designed to provide your customers with important information they need after ordering a new service over the NBN such as what the installation process involves and where the in-premises equipment may be installed.
We recognise sending the booklet is an opportunity for you to re-enforce your relationship with your customers, so you may select from the following three options when creating your version of the booklet:
Option 1 Send the NBN Co version of Preparing for the NBN, with no changes or additions.
Option 2 Send a co-branded Preparing for the NBN booklet.
Option 3 Use the content from the NBN Co Preparing for the NBN booklet to create your own version.
We will be in contact to provide additional information including our terms of use to assist you in determining which option is best for you soon.
For more information please contact your NBN Co Account Manager.
Interactive rollout map
In the coming weeks, NBN Co plans to release a new tool on our website for displaying the rollout information using an interactive map. This interactive map aims to make it easier for the general public to find out when the NBN will be coming to their area. Users will be able to search for their suburb or postcode to see the status of the NBN rollout in their area which may be:
- NBN services available
- Construction has commenced for both Fibre and Fixed Wireless
- Construction to commence within 1 year for Fibre.
It will also identify the NBN Ready estates where either NBN services are available or construction has commenced.
The map will be updated based on the monthly rollout plans which are released on the 10th working day of the month.
Customer focused research program
At the NBN Co Forums in November 2011, Ben Salmon, Katrina Harrison & Tom Sykes provided updates on the key learnings from the market research undertaken and the changes we were implementing as a result. The key learnings were:
- Consumers are seeking information, education and inspiration in using their Fibre Broadband Service.
- Expectations need to be more closely managed in relation to speed and performance impacts and setting realistic performance measures.
- NBN Co & access seekers have a joint role to play in providing a seamless end-to-end experience to support the needs of all users.
Over the last few months, we have been continuing our customer focused research program aimed at improving the end-to end experience of our products, for you and your customers. In particular, we have been engaging with a number of access seekers and end-users to review the internal premises equipment and the interim satellite processes.
Both the functionality as well as the design aesthetics of the internal premises equipment for fibred premises have been reviewed. For satellite we have analysed the stages that support both installation and fault resolution processes, with intention to review and improve these in the near future.
Stay tuned, as we will share more details around our progress and recommendations soon.
NBN Live
NBN Live showcases applications that could benefit from the National Broadband Network. In this month's NBN Live we showcase CSIRO's telehealth system which aims to reduce preventable blindness by sending patients' eye images over a broadband connection to city specialists.
Market perspectives
Market Perspectives shares the latest trends and insights from around the world. In February's Market Perspectives we focus on understanding the concept of a connected home.
