Three year rollout announcement
On 29 March 2012, NBN Co announced Stage 1 of the large-scale rollout of the National Broadband Network. By mid-2015, work will be underway or completed in over 1,500 communities and 3.5 million homes and businesses across Australia. This marks a significant milestone in delivering Australia's new high speed broadband network.
NBN Co chief executive Mike Quigley said: "The NBN is not just about faster internet - it's about an upgrade to the infrastructure that will underpin the delivery of vital applications that Australians will need over the coming decades. This is a great step forward in preparing our country for the future and helping to address some of its biggest challenges in healthcare, education and business."
Since the announcement, traffic to our website has increased threefold with everyone searching the new the interactive map to see if they are among the first to get connected to the NBN. The three year rollout announcement also provides you with a roadmap of the fibre optic construction activity to assist in your business planning and managing customer enquiries.
We are holding two events next month designed to provide service providers with guidance on how they can leverage the NBN Rollout Plans to support their business planning, sales and marketing efforts.

Embedding our interactive map
Want to make it easier for your customers to see when the NBN is coming to their area? We are currently developing the functionality that allows you to embed the new interactive map into your website. Your customers will be able to search for their suburb or postcode to see when work is planned to commence in their area for both fibre and fixed wireless.

Customer focused research program
NBN Co is continuing our Product Customer Focused Research program to improve the experience of how our products are delivered to you and your customers.
Over the next few months we plan to explore the design, processes and experiences surrounding our Facilities Access, Fixed Wireless and Fibre products in second release and Greenfield locations. Our research teams will shortly be in touch to provide you with the opportunity to participate.
Next month, we will share some insights learned from our research into the Interim Satellite Service, and some of the initiatives and improvements that we are undertaking as a result of this work.
