The nbn™ network is an exciting, fast-paced and nation-building program. To attract the best talent possible for the team at nbn, we’ve designed a recruitment process that allows us to find the right people for our business, while helping you consider whether a role at nbn is a good fit for you.
The nbn recruitment process will involve most of the activities outlined below, but may differ slightly based on the role you have applied for. At all stages of the process we are committed to providing you with timely updates. Should you be unsuccessful at any stage we’ll notify you as soon as possible via email or phone.
Decide which of our roles you might want to apply for by reviewing all open positions. Submit your CV, as well as answers to some questions about your skills and experience.
You may be invited to participate in a phone interview with one of our Recruitment Business Partners. In a phone interview we’ll ask you some additional questions about your experience and motivators. It’s important to be prepared, as this is the first stage of our interview process. This is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions you have about the company or the upcoming process.
In some cases, you may also be invited to participate in a video interview, sent via a link to your email. Video interviews normally take about 20 minutes.
If your phone or video interview was successful, you’ll be invited to an interview with the nbn hiring manager and other key individuals relevant to the position. This will likely be in person, or via video conference from an nbn office. We’ll assess your skills and experience against a number of required competencies for the position, and will ask you both behavioural and technical or job-specific questions. You’ll have the opportunity to find out more detail about the role and of course ask any questions. In most cases there will be multiple interviews and successful candidates from the first interview will progress to the second.
If you’re applying for a position at nbn that will lead or manage a team of people you will need to complete online psychometric assessments, which tells us a bit more about your preferred work style and how you might solve problems, plan ahead and draw logical conclusions. This assessment will be completed between the first and second interview, with results discussed in the second interview.
If you’re successful through our selection process we will request you undertake pre-employment background and medical checks. This may include some or all of a 100 point identification check; eligibility to work confirmation; employment verification check; national criminal record check; reference checks; drug and alcohol testing; and qualification and licence checks.
After successful checks, we’ll provide an offer of employment and contract to those that are successful.
Once you’ve received and accepted your offer of employment and contract, it’s time to celebrate! As an nbn employee you will receive an Orientation Welcome Booklet – a guide with helpful information and tips as well as information you need to complete before your first day. You’ll also get a call from your new manager to see how you’re preparing for your first day and to answer any questions you have before day one.
