Prepare for launch: Sky Muster™ II is ready to blast into space!

One week to go until nbn launches its second satellite to space on October 5.

With one week until nbn’s second satellite, Sky Muster™ II, blasts at speeds close to 11,000km/h into space, here’s what you need to know before lift off, which is scheduled for 7:30am AEST October 5, 2016.

The launch of Sky Muster™ II is the final piece of a six year project – including the construction of 10 Ground Stations around the country.

Following the successful launch last year of nbn’s first revolutionary broadband satellite, Sky Muster™ I, Sky Muster™ II will help to provide broadband coverage to more than 400,000 regional, remote, outback and offshore premises around Australia.

The nbn™ Sky Muster™ Satellite service for those premises will help to deliver fast broadband to those who need it most and will be game changing for rural businesses and agriculture.

With access to fast broadband, Australians located in remote areas will be equipped with increased access to information and technology, helping to improve productivity and connectivity with the rest of the nation, and the world!

The launch of the satellite will be streamed live from the French Guiana Space Centre in South America, so be sure not to miss out on the action by tuning in here.

Also keep an eye out on Snapchat next week, as we’ve got something special in store to celebrate the launch and milestone of Sky Muster™ II!
